The Adidas Ozweego hugs the foot with a soft, lightweight feel. It runs on a lace-up closure that features an eyestay collar tube, which evens out the distribution of pressure across the foot. With its low-cut design, the Ozweego allows the ankles to retain their full range of motion. Moreover, it’s offered in both men’s and women’s sizing.
The Ozweego not only checks but also excels in all the dad shoe requirements. Its strangeness and “ugliness” are dad shoe par excellence. Its silhouette is primarily defined by the sculpted muscles and lines of its beastly midsole. Instead of fat, as most dad shoes are, the Ozweego appears more as slim, fit, and athletic.
Bearing such striking details—the color blocking, stripes, piping, and eyestay—the Ozweego can’t help popping out in any casual or sporty outfit. It works well with both baggy styles and slim-fit, tapered-down outfits (jeans, joggers, sweatpants). Ladies can also pull off a high-fashion-esque style with the Ozweegos and experiment it with odd-looking dresses and pants.

Besides its strange, extravagant, yet subtle style, the Ozweego’s intense level of comfort has come to surprise everyone. That’s all thanks to the AdiPrene’s targeted cushioning, strategically placed in the forefoot and heel area to absorb impact and deliver a smooth, effortless ride and stride.
Dubbed as “Weegz” in the late ’90s, the Ozweegos got shelved in the early 2000s. But by early 2010s, the Ozweegos have made a comeback. It was triggered by the highly revered Belgian designer Raf Simons, who joined Adidas in 2013. He first worked on tweaking the Stan Smiths, and then on the Ozweegos. The latter immediately catapulted back to the limelight and gained a huge following, waiting eagerly for a follow-up.
In 2019, Adidas released a fresh silhouette, inspired by the Ozweego 3, which was a 1998 running shoe. While nodding at all its predecessor’s mainstay features, the Ozweego looks sleeker and sharper with its futuristic design lines brought by its prominent heel wedge and translucent support piping. It’s hailed as a perfect distillation of the Ozweego line.
