The Adidas Sobakov relatively runs large. Those who appreciate having a wiggle room inside the shoe are recommended to purchase a pair at true to size. The lace-up closure grants users an adjustable and secured fit. The cushioning setup underneath is made of EVA foam which offers just the right amount of comfort for daily grinds. The durable chunk of gum outsole provides stability. This soccer-inspired shoe can be purchased in men’s sizes from 4.5 to 13 US. Women buyers are suggested to get a men’s size that’s equivalent to 1.5 smaller than their usual size.

Adidas continues to tease its followers with another chunky sole sneaker offering, the low-top Sobakov, featuring a bulbous outsole that’s sure to catch anyone’s attention. This indoor soccer-inspired streetwear sneaker has a ribbed upper detailing that’s offset by subdued shades such as white, black, or solar orange. Its eccentric yet luxe composition impressively complements a pair of joggers or zip-up tracksuits for a sporty weekend vibe; wide-leg bottoms, crinkled, or slim-hemmed pants for day-to-day grinds.

The most prominent aspect of the Adidas Sobakov is its psychedelic sole. The sculpted, translucent gum midsole and outsole are made of profoundly grooved herringbone pattern which gives it a dynamic look. The curvy bottom of the Sobakov projects a fluid appearance which according to some is more aesthetically appealing than the spiky design on the sole of the Adidas Prophere and the intense waves on the Adidas Kamanda.

The Adidas Sobokov emerged just in time for the culmination of the FIFA 2018 World Cup held in Russia. This aggressive-looking silhouette that appears like a soccer shoe from another world gave sports and sneaker fanatics something to rave about even as the FIFA fever trickled down.

The low-top Sobakov bursts with soccer cleat elements marked by its knitted upper with horizontal ribbing and punctuated by an unapologetic wavy gum sole that gives it a street-ready character. The wrap around Three-Stripes leather labeling is suggestive of the Adidas Predator Precision, a soccer cleat launched in the year 2000 which has been modified several times. One of the upgraded styles of such classic power cleat is the Adidas Predator Precision Firm Ground, introduced in 2017.

Sobakov’s general figure and textured gum sole are akin to another stylish soccer-inspired lifestyle sneaker coined as the Adidas Kamanda as well as the Adidas Prophere which are among the cutting-edge styles added to the Adidas Originals lineup in 2018.

The Adidas Sobakov initially surfaced in clean cloud white/gum and core black/gum color schemes before it got its bone/ice purple/ solar orange colorway with the drop of the collaborative edition, called the Bodega x Adidas Sobakov. Also in 2018, the tan outsole was retooled using a white gum, while the woven knit upper took a clear orange palette, contrasted by a core black heel logo wrapping.

  • The plain leather panel stitched on top of the tongue has no branding on it. However, the Sobakov and Adidas logo patches are sewn under the tongue.
  • The insole is made with a faux leather finish.
  • The Three-Stripes branding is reflective.
  • The heel counter is made of leather.
  • The flat laces that make up the front closure are looped through the embroidered eyelets.
  • The name Sobakov is an amalgamation of two Russian words: “sobaka” for dog and “volk” for wolf. These animals that work in packs somehow portray the hordes of supporters of opposing soccer teams.
