...a very, very comfortable shoe to run in. I would personally consider this shoe for any distance, well over a marathon. It's accommodating for sizing and comfortable.

  • 98 / 100 | Road Trail Run | | Level 5 expert

The Sense Ride 2 is about as close to a do any type of run on any surface, and in comfort, shoe as I have tested as a single shoe in the quiver option... Highly recommended.

People eying a one-shoe rotation for trail use (probably most people, including yours truly), the Sense Ride 2 is a great choice.

For what it’s worth, this will become my new go-to trail shoe for both training and racing. If the upper lasts, Salomon has created yet another trail shoe that finds a great balance of performance and comfort. The Sense Ride 2 is a dependable workhorse!

This is the ideal shoe to take on a trip. If you have some trail running, some road running, travel, etc... it was a super fun ride on all surfaces.

  • The Sense Ride 2 is an addition to the roster of trail running shoes that are available to the world. This product offers comfort and protection from the unpredictable nature of the outside topography. One of the aspects that ensures safety from the elements is the underfoot platform, which is composed of the VIBE™ cushioning technology, the shield-like Profeel Film layer, and the full-length rubber external pad.
  • On the upper of this Salomon running shoe is a stretchy mesh that is lightweight and breathable. This fabric is bolstered by external overlays, a sock-like internal sleeve, and a single-pull lacing system that consists of discrete eyelets and thin cables. Various color schemes are available, giving the runner some freedom when it comes to the visual flair of the shoe.

Regular sizing measurements were used in the making of the Salomon Sense Ride 2. Such a trait permits the runner to get a pair using the usual length expectations. When it comes to width, this trail companion offers the D – Medium and B – Medium variants for men and women, respectively. It welcomes those who have medium foot-volumes and dimensions.

It is worth noting that trying on the shoe or studying online user feedback can help in the attainment of the correct size and fit.

The outsole unit of the Salomon Sense Ride 2 is made up of the Contagrip® MA. This layer is designed to protect the rest of the platform from the abrasive nature of the outdoor terrains. It has a durable quality which allows it to stay efficient, even after many uses.

Same as in the popular Salomon Speedcross 5, this shoe uses the Contagrip® MA compound which is already traction-ready, and it is supported by a set of prominent gripping lugs. These diamond-shaped protrusions act like clamps that hold onto the surfaces, locking the underfoot platform in place and averting slippage or surface instability.

A few flex grooves are added to the forefoot and heel sections. These shallow canals help the foot to bend naturally as it transitions through the gait cycle, thereby giving a natural and enabled ride.

The VIBE™ cushioning system is used for the midsole unit of the Salomon Sense Ride 2. Two elements comprise this structure, one of them being the EnergyCell™+ which is a full-length foam that is created to mitigate the landing impacts and energize the forefoot lifts.

The other element that is part of the VIBE™ technology is the Opal, two separate layers that rest on the heel and front of the full-length foam. These pieces are meant to make the underfoot experience as luxurious as possible while also adding a bit more energy to each footfall and liftoff.

A die-cute Ortholite® sockliner is used to provide extra support to the underfoot. It is thin yet soft, allowing it to cover the relatively firm shoe-last. It has anti-moisture and antibacterial properties that maintain a healthy and odor-free in-shoe experience.

The upper unit of the Salomon Sense Ride 2 uses stretchy mesh, a material that accommodates the natural shape and motion of the foot. It has visible breathing pores that contribute to a cool and dry running session, particularly during all-day wear.

The SensiFit™ is comprised of a set of printed overlays and fabric eyelets that line the instep. This system holds the foot in place and provides targeted support to areas that need it. It doesn’t limit movement because the synthetic prints are thin.

EndoFit™ is an internal sleeve that is soft and seamless. It hugs the foot, keeping it secure and comfortable at all times. It has small pores that preserve the breathable purpose of the silhouette. Also, this technology allows the wearer to use the Sense Ride 2 without a sock because it has a smooth construction that’s reminiscent of actual socks.

The Quicklace™ system is comprised of thin yet durable and stretchy cables that loop through the fabric eyelets on the bridge of the upper unit. These wires connect to a locking mechanism that maintains the level of security that the wearer desires. Tightening or loosening the coverage is ultimately up to the person, though the need to do the traditional looping or tying is removed from the equation. A quick pull-and-lock movement is enough to get the desired fit.

A lace pocket is placed on the tongue unit of this running shoe. The runner can tuck the excess cable-length in this feature, thus enjoying a hassle-free experience on the trails.

The padded collar is meant to prevent in-shoe wobbling and accidental shoe removals. It also cushions the Achilles tendon and the ankles.
